Alocasia Macrorrhiza Elephant Ears have enormous green heart-shaped leaves that face upwards, unlike most other Elephant Ears which face downward – hence the name, Upright Elephant Ears. Upright Elephant Ears are thick, leathery, huge and spectacular. Although they will tolerate a light frost, they can freeze to the ground but will come back in zones 7 and above. If you have a large pot, Elephant Ears can provide tropical interest in a Northern garden.
