Species & Misc. Tulip Bulbs

Also known as Botanical Tulips, this division includes tulips (both wild and hybrid) which retain some of their original features.  Also included here are the Gregii tulips.  All are excellent perennializers, especially in warm climates. They are ideal for borders, rock gardens or naturalizing.

Bright Gem (t. batalinii) is a dwarf Species Tulip that is sulfur yellow, flushed orange. It is fragrant with sweet rounded blooms that come back year after year and naturalize to form ever denser patches. Excellent for edgings and rock gardens

Chrysantha (t. clusiana) Species Tulip is a charming dwarf tulip that is bright yellow, flushed with rosy-red on the exterior. Also known as Tubergen’s Gem or Golden Lady. With its small, tear-drop shaped bulbs, Chrysantha is easy to tuck along pathways and in clusters. Happiest in areas that are a bit dry during the summer

Dasystemon Tarda Species Tulip has 5 to 6 star-shaped flowers per stem, yellow with white edges. Prefers rich, well-drained and dry soil. Fragrant. May self-seed in some areas.

Heart’s Delight is a Kaufmanniana type Tulip, rosy red on the outside with light pink inside and a bright yellow base. Also known as ‘Water Lily Tulips,’ these low-growing tulips are perfect for rock gardens and border plantings. Great naturalizers when left undisturbed in a good spot.
